All about the Fed; Wall Street closes mixed
FXStreet (San Francisco) - The US stocks market closed mixed on Monday as investors were trading at the defensive ahead of Wednesday's Federal Reserve policy meeting.
Market took a pause after last's week strong gains and following an initial decline, major indexes managed to recover ground with the Dow and the Nasdaq closing positive while the S&P finishing negative. Besides the Fed, oil was the major driver of the day as the WTI fell below 80.00 again.
The Dow Jones advanced 12.27 points or 0.07% to finish at 16,817.68; the S&P 500 declined 2.95 points or 0.15% to end the day at 1,961.63; while the Nasdaq Composite added 2.22 pts or 0.05% to 4,485.93.
