AUD/USD drops to 0.8680 amid Stevens

FXStreet (Córdoba) - AUD/USD broke below 0.8695 and fell quickly to 0.8680 reaching the lowest price since last Friday. The pair then rebounded and managed to rise back above 0.8700.

Currently trades at 0.8705, slightly below yesterday’s closing price. On Monday pulled back retreating from 2-week highs. During the recent Asian session remained steady despite the release of the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) minutes.

AUD down as Stevens speak

During the last hour the aussie dropped across the board as RBA Governor, G. Stevens affirmed that investors in the forex market are underestimating the risks of a decline of the aussie and signaled that it is likely to continue to fall.

FTSE extends gains

The London’s Ftse index extended gains today supported by gains in Oil stocks, real estate investment trust British Land and Insurer Prudential.
