US weekly jobless claims decline 6k to 289k

FXStreet (London) - In the week ending December 12, the US seasonally adjusted initial claims was 289,000, a decrease of 6,000 from the previous week's downwards-revised level of 295,000, according to the US Department of Labor.

Consensus expectations were for an increase to 295k.

The 4-week moving average was 298.8k.

Continuing claims fell by 147,000 to 2.373m in the week ending Dec 6.

The Department of Labor stated that there were no special factors impacting this week's initial claims.
