US Stocks likely to gain on upbeat earnings
FXStreet (Mumbai) - Stock markets in the US are likely to see early buying interest, after suffering losses in the previous two sessions. The activity in the major index futures is pointing to a positive start on the Wall street.
At the time of writing, the DJIA futures traded 0.78% higher at 17708, while the S&P 500 futures traded 0.69% higher at 2036.45. Meanwhile, the NASDAQ futures and the Russell 2000 futures are trading 0.79% and 0.72% higher at 4199.40 and 1188.80 levels respectively. Consequently, the S&P 500 VIX futures are trading 2.82% lower at 18.98 levels.
Stocks may gain in response to fourth quarter results from Alcoa, whose shares are moving higher in pre-market trading after the company reported fourth quarter adjusted earnings of USD 0.33 per share compared to analyst estimates for USD 0.27 per share. Homebuilder KB Home (KBH) is also likely to see early strength after reporting a substantial increase in fourth quarter net income.
In overseas trading, stock markets across the Asia-Pacific region turned in another mixed performance, while the ones in Europe have all gained for the day.
