US equities edge higher, Dow back above 15000

FXstreet.com (New York) - The US stock market opened the week higher Monday, having secured modest gains across the board after the release of upbeat US economic data.

In the United States, the Markit Manufacturing PMI (June) came in at 51.9, beating expectations of 50.60.

Beginning with the indices and composites, the NASDAQ rose +0.97% as it settles in region of 3436.78, up +33.97 points in these moments. In addition, the S&P 500 is trading in positive territory, operating at 1618.11, ascending +11.78 points or +0.72% at the time of writing. Finally, the Dow Jones has moved higher at the opening, trading in the zone of 15007.38, presently +0.66% after a movement of +97.78 points.

Sectors are all higher at the opening, however the Telecoms and Financials have distinguished themselves as the winners thus far, gaining +0.99% and +0.93% respectively. Moreover, the price of gold has settled at $1240.13 per oz., while silver is now negotiating a spot price of $19.56 per oz. Monday.
