USD/JPY near key support

FXStreet (Córdoba) - USD/JPY dropped further during the American session and printed fresh 2-day low at 117.28. The pair is holding below 117.50, trading near a key support level located around the 117.15/25 area, that capped the downside during the last two weeks.

The yen rose further across the board after US GDP data and amis risk aversion. European markets finished negative while in Wall Street the Dow Jones is falling 0.66% and the Nasdaq losses 0.12%.

Another week in ranges for USD/JPY

If it ends around current price levels the pair would have post the third weekly close in a row around 117.50, showing ongoing signs of consolidation after falling at the beginning of the year from above 120.00 to 115.80 (Jan 16 low). Greenback is going to suffer in January the first monthly decline against the yen since June 2013.

"What about negative yields?" - Rabobank

Analysts at Rabobank noted that Iin the Q&A session that accompanied the QE announcement Draghi was asked whether the ECB would consider buying bonds whose yield was in negative territory – to which he replied ‘yes’.
