USD/CAD clinches highs after Payrolls

FXStreet (Edinburgh) - The US dollar is now picking up pace vs. its fellow neighbour today, pushing USD/CAD to highs beyond 1.2500 the figure.

USD/CAD stronger following NFP

Spot is advancing for the second consecutive session now after US Payrolls came in at 295K during February vs. 240K forecasted; furthermore, the unemployment rate dropped to 5.5%, beating the median at 5.6%.

In addition, releases in Canada saw Building Permits contracting 12.9% inter-month vs. a forecasted drop of 4.3%, and the trade deficit increasing to $ 2.45 billion during January.

USD/CAD key levels

At the moment the pair is advancing 0.15% at 1.2525 and a surpass of 1.2543 (high Mar.3) would aim for 1.2549 (high Mar.4) and then 1.2600 (psychological level). On the downside, the immediate support aligns at 1.2407 (low Mar.4) followed by 1.2388 (low Feb.26) and finally 1.2360 (low Feb.17).
