NZD heavy after Fonterra news
FXStreet (Bali) - NZD was sold quite heavily following news that Fonterra trading came to a halt in its dairy industry entities, Bloomberg reports.
Bloomberg added that "Fonterra expects trading halt to be lifted by end of day." The reason behind the halt, as stated by NZ police, was a threat made to contaminate infant milk formula, despite there were no signs of any contamination so far.
New Zealand's Minister of Primary industry said New Zealand infant formula "just as safe today as it was before", adding that "poison threat is a protest to 1080 pest control."
