AUD/USD breaks above 0.8100

FXStreet (Tokyo) - And 140 pips after, the AUD/USD just broke above the 0.8100 level. The Australian Dollar is trading higher against the weak American Dollar after the disappointing US retail sales data.

The AUD/USD jumped 140 pips from 0.7965 to break above 0.8100 and trade as high as 0.8120; maximum since January 22.

Currently, AUD/USD is trading at 0.8114, up 1.69% on the day, having posted a daily high at 0.8120 and low at 0.7948. AUD/USD spot is in extremely overbought territory according to the hourly FXStreet OB/OS Index, while the FXStreet Trend Index is slightly bullish.

If the pair consolidates levels above 0.8100, it will find resistances at 0.8120, 0.8160 and 0.8180. To the downside, supports are at 0.8100, 0.8030 and 0.8020.
