MPC's Weale to vote for a hike? - Rabobank
FXStreet (Guatemala) - Jane Foley, Senior Currency Strategist at Rabobank noted, that in his interview with the FT, MPC member Weale has given a strong indication that he could be voting for a BoE rate hike as soon as August.
Key Quotes:
"For some months the voting decision of the two MPC hawks has been ‘finely balanced’. Weale along with McCafferty voted for interest rate rises between August and December last year."
"He then changed his stance on the back of the sharp fall in the oil price and weakness in food prices which together were largely responsible for temporarily pushing the UK CPI inflation index below zero this year. The next BoE policy decision is scheduled for July 9, just one day after the budget."
