Merkel says condition still not met for Greek negotiations to resume

FXStreet (Córdoba) - After the conclusion of the EU summit, German Chancellor Angela Merkel said that conditions for Greece aid negotiations to restart are not currently met and that Thursday is the deadline for a detailed set of Greek proposals.

Merkel added that if Greek reform proposals are satisfactory and prior actions are made then short-term financing can be offered.

She said that a full 28-nation EU summit has been called for Sunday to discuss aid for Greece, shows how urgent situation is.

Analysts at ING Bank explained that following the victory of the “No” vote in Greece’s referendum, the ECB decided to continue providing Greek banks with access to Emergency Liquidity Assistance (ELA).
