UK March-May wage growth accelerates to 3.2%

FXStreet (Mumbai) - The data released by the UK Office for National Statistics (ONS) showed the jobless figure rose for the first time since Oct 2012 and UK earnings growth was quickest its been since 2009 in June.

The average hourly earnings excluding bonus rose 2.8% in May, missing the estimate of 3.0%, but ticked higher from 2.7% seen in April. Including bonus, the average hourly earnings rose 3.2%, missing the estimate of 3.3%, but higher from 2.7% seen in April.

The ILO unemployment rate rose to 5.6%, its first jump in the unemployment rate since Dec 2013. Meanwhile, the claimant count rose 7K, the first rise in claims since Oct 2012.

EUR/GBP spikes to highs at 0.7068 on UK employment data
