US equities mixed after jobless claims

FXstreet.com (Lisbon) - The US stock market experienced a mixed opening Thursday, with most indices edging higher ahead of the crucial data Nonfarm payroll release tomorrow.

In the United States, Initial Jobless Claims came in at 323K (August 30), against estimates of 330K.

Beginning with the indices and composites, today the NASDAQ rose +0.17% as it settles in region of 3655.87, up +6.21 points in these moments. In addition, the S&P 500 is trading in positive territory, operating at 1655.97, ascending +2.99 points or +0.18% at the time of writing. Finally, the Dow Jones has moved lower at the opening, trading in the zone of 14926.15, presently -0.18% after a movement of -4.72 points.

Moving to commodities, the price of gold has settled at $1390.44 per oz., while silver is now negotiating a spot price of $23.44 per oz. Thursday.

In terms of FX, the EUR/USD is now trading at 1.3168 (-0.29%), the USD/JPY has settled at 99.82 (+0.08%), the GBP/USD at 1.5635 (+0.05%), and the USD/CHF at 0.9403 (+0.51%).

EUR/JPY holds critical support

EUR/JPY has dropped a big figure from over 1.3210 and recording a low of 1.3129 but has held onto critical support.
