US: Initial Jobless Claims rose to 374K

FXstreet.com (Edinburgh) - According to the Labour Department, the Americans that filed in their first initial claims for regular state unemployment-insurance benefits rose by 66K last week to a seasonally adjusted 374K in the week ended October 4, below expectations at 310K and coming from 308K (revised) in the previous print. Continuing claims, which reflect people already receiving benefits, fell by 16K to a seasonally adjusted 2.905 million in the week ended September 27 vs. 2.921 million in the previous week (revised).

USD/JPY holds gains after US claims

The USD/JPY saw a quick and short-lived drop after data showed US jobless claims rose more than expected last week.
