Spanish bond yields improve at debt auction

FXstreet.com (Barcelona) - The Spanish Tesoro Público held a debt auction on Thursday during which it sold 3- and 5- year bonds at lower yields than seen at the previous auction.

900 million euros of bonds maturing in 2016 were auctioned at an average yield of 2.064%, compared with 2.225% seen at the last auction. 1645 million euros worth of bonds maturing in 2018, were sold at an average yield of 3.059%, down from the previous 3.128%.

GBP/USD spikes on solid UK retail sales

The GBP/USD got a solid support after the UK retail sales were announced at very encouraging levels and coupled with yesterday’s encouraging labor data led the cross to its daily highs as of 1.6088.
