US stocks drop in early trading, banking stocks suffer
The stock markets in the US opened lower, with banking stocks leading the drop as expected following the rout in Europe.
At the time of writing, the Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) index was down 240 points or 1.5%. The S&P 500 index was down 27 points or 1.4%. Nasdaq index was down 1% as well.
Shares in JP Morgan and Goldman Sachs were down 4.2% and 3.18% respectively. American Express was down 3.10%.
