Wall Street closes higher amid jobless data and Yellen normalization
FXstreet.com (San Francisco) - The US stocks market closed with strong note on Thursday as investors digested better than expected jobless claims data and welcomed the Senate approvals of Ms Yellen's nomination as Fed's boss.
The Dow Jones recovered today the last two days of losses and closed above the 16,000 key mark for first time. The S&P also recovered almost all losses suffered in the last three days.
The Dow Jones advanced 109.17 pts or 0.69% to finish the day at 16,009.99; the S&P 500 added 14.48 pts or 0.81% to 1,795.85; and the Nasdaq climbed 47.88 pts or 1.22% to end the session at 3,969.15.
