US producer prices rise 0.4% in May

US producer-price index increased a seasonally adjusted 0.4% in May from the prior month after rising 0.2% in April, the Labor Department said Wednesday. This reading came above the 0.3% rise expected by analysts.

Excluding food and energy prices, the index rose 0.3% in May, beating expectations of a 0.1% increase.
