Canada: Retail sales increase 0.2% in May

Canadian retail sales rose 0.2%  from a month earlier in May, above the flat reading expected and posting the third rise in four months.

Retail sales gained 0.2% to a seasonally adjusted 44.28 billion Canadian dollars in May, Statistics Canada said Friday. In volume terms, sales increased 0.1%.

Excluding autos, retail sales rose by 0.9% in May, above the 0.3% expected.
