Wall Street wobbles on rate hike expectations before J'Hole
There was an air of belief that a September rate hike could be on the cards next month and Wall Street was pretty soft ahead of tomorrow Jackson Hole on the back of such sentiment.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 26 points, or 0.1%, to 18,455 while the S&P 500 index was down by 3 points to 2,172, with the energy sector again holding the index back with slide in oil and the Nasdaq Composite Index COMP, -0.11% edged down 4 points to 5,212.
Markets are now set on Yellen’s speech at 10 a.m. Eastern on tomorrow, Friday. There has been quite a build up to it and there could be some volatility around the event on Wall Street.
