A snap-shot of the commodity sector - ANZ

Analysts at ANZ offered a snap-shot of the commodity sector.

Key Quotes:

"Oil prices rose overnight (WTI +1.4%, Brent +1.2%) despite rising stockpiles in the US, as fuel supplies in the US fell to the lowest level this year.

Base metals were generally down, with the exception of aluminium (+1.0%), while the agricultural sector was broadly positive.

Wheat prices posted strong growth overnight (+4.6%) albeit from historically low levels.

Meanwhile, gold prices rose slightly (+0.3%) on the back of the weaker USD and drop in equity markets."
