“There have also been a series of severe aftershocks in the Seddon and Kaikoura regions and reports of damage in Wellington have also been recorded. Civil Defence has issued a tsunami warning, which remains in place in some areas. It is far too early to comment on any economic impact of these events at this stage, although the NZD has opened under downward pressure this morning and we expect that bias to remain until more information on the extent of physical damage is available.”
