Research Team at ANZ, suggests that the week ahead is relatively bereft of economic news and as such the risk is that the news flow around various risk events dominates for the AUD.

In particular, watching the appointments that are made will give some insight as to what the administration’s priorities will be. Here, views around banking sector regulation and the operation of the Federal Reserve will be a focus. The second will be the build-up to the impending OPEC meeting. Risks appeared skewed to the upside for oil, with investors having largely dismissed the likelihood of a production cut agreement. On the contrary, we believe an agreement is likely.  Finally, the referendum in Italy will come into focus as the date fast approaches.
