Dow Jones breaks above 19,400; new record highs
Equity prices in Wall Street accelerated to the upside during the last three hours. The Dow Jones broke above19,400 while the S&P rose on top of 2,220; both indexes printed new record highs.
The Dow opened with losses, affected by a decline in the health-care sector but then turned to the upside. Currently stands at daily highs, at 19,440 up 0.96% for the day while the S&P gains 0.72%. The post-election rally continues.
In the bond market, yields are not moving in tandem with equity prices. Treasury bonds area rising with the 10-year yield at 2.346%, testing weekly lows. Crude oil is 1.0%, with the WTI barrel holding above $50. Gold prices are up for the day but the ounce found resistance at $1,180 and it was moving around $1175.
Among currencies, the US dollar was falling across the board. The DXY dropped toward 100.00. The worst performer among currencies was the pound, weakened after UK data.
