Tapering not on sight – ECB’s M.Draghi
Further headlines from President Mario Draghi at his press conference:
Draghi says decision on QE extension had "very broad consensus”.
QE purchase below deposit rate is an option and not a necessity; buying below deposit rate ensures smooth implementation.
He says that risk of deflation has largely disappeared.
There is no question about tapering. Tapering has not been discussed today, adding that the potential reduction in monthly QE pace has not been considered either, while reducing asset purchases to zero hasn't been on the table.
Draghi deemed Trump’s administration as ‘radically new’, adding that this and Brexit will have medium to long-term effects.
