US: Initial Jobless Claims rose to 348K

FXstreet.com (Edinburgh) - According to the Labour Department, the Americans that filed in their first initial claims for regular state unemployment-insurance benefits rose by 19K last week to a seasonally adjusted 348K in the week ended January 24, missing forecasts at 330K and coming from 329K (revised from 329K) in the previous print. Continuing claims, which reflect people already receiving benefits, dropped by 16K to a seasonally adjusted 2.991 million in the week ended January 17 vs. 3.007 million in the previous week (revised).
