Wall Street gains on a dead cat bounce day

FXStreet (San Francisco) - The US stocks market closed Tuesday with gains after Monday's sell-off as investors are taking positions after massive declines in the last days. The Dow stopped its 3-digit dive run.

An increase in ISM New York index and a not as-bad-as-expected factory orders in December could fuel investors’ hopes, however, the recovery wasn't strong enough and the notion of ‘just a bounce’ is across the street.

The DJIA advanced 72.44 points or 0.47% to finish the session at 15,445.24; the S&P 500 added 13.31 points or 0.76% ti end the day at 1,755.20 while the Nasdaq Composite won 34.56 pts or 0.86% to close at 4,031.52.
