Flash: EZ data not looking good ahead of ECB - BBH

FXStreet (Guatemala) - Marc Chandler, Global Head of Currency Strategy at Brown Brothers Harriman noted the poor EZ data ahead of the ECB.

"Euro zone reported December retail sales at -1.6% m/m vs. -0.7% consensus and a revised 0.9% (was 1.4%) in November. Final services PMI readings were also reported for a variety of euro zone countries."

"Italy and France readings were slightly firmer than expected at 49.4 and 48.9, respectively, while Germany saw a weaker than expected reading at 53.1. The euro zone composite reading was 52.9 vs. the 53.2 consensus, mirroring the softer than expected services component."
