RBA to hold this week, but watching value of Aussie - UOB

Analysts at UOB noted that The Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) will announce its interest rate decision on Tuesday with expectations that the Reserve Bank will maintain interest rates at 1.50% at this meeting.

Key Quotes:

"Recent comments from RBA Governor Philip Lowe suggest that the underlying policy stance will be neutral, although the statement will still be very important for underlying policy expectations and market confidence."

"Markets will also be on high alert for rhetoric on the currency given the recent peak above 0.8000 in AUD/ USD."

"Previously, this level has triggered verbal intervention from the RBA, although this is the first time that it has happened under the stewardship of Lowe."

"The Statement on Monetary Policy will then be released on Friday."
