US stocks regain bullish traction, Dow eyeing 22,000 milestone
Major US equity indices charged higher during the opening hour of trading on Tuesday, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) hitting fresh intraday record highs closer to the 22,000 milestone. Markets, however, trimmed some of the early gains after the US car makers reported a steep drop in sales during July.
At the time of writing, the DJIA was up by over 50-points to 21947, while the broader S&P 500 Index added nearly 4-points to 2474. Meanwhile, tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite rose around 11-points to 6359 as investors now look forward to the release of Apple's quarterly results after the close of Tuesday's trade.
Solid earnings, led by above estimates sales numbers have been one of the factors supporting the recent record breaking bullish run. With over 70% of the S&P 500 companies reporting numbers above street estimates, the markets remain on track to continue scaling new heights in the near-future.
