Consumer confidence indicator improved slightly in the euro area

"In December 2017, the DG ECFIN flash estimate of the consumer confidence indicator improved slightly in the euro area (+0.5 points to +0.5) and remained virtually flat in the EU (+0.1 points to -0.6) compared to November," the European Commission announced on Thursday.

In November, the Economic Sentiment Indicator (ESI) for the euro area improved again, increasing slightly by 0.5 points to 114.6.

The indicator for the EU remained broadly stable (+0.1 points to 114.3).

The indicators reached the highest levels since October 2000 (euro area) and June 2007 (EU).
