China's Wang Yi: trade protectionism is short-sighted

China's Foreign Minister, Wang Yi, is hitting the wires with comments about the US' protectionist trade policies ahead of Friday's tariff deadline.

According to Wang Yi, trade protectionism in the form of trade tariffs will hurt both sides, and he reiterated that the unilateral trade action of imposing tariffs goes against World Trade Organization (WTO) guidelines, and will damage the global trade system.
