ECB’s Lautenschlaeger: ‘We should gradually raise interest rates’

Reuters is out with the comments delivered by the European Central Bank (ECB) Executive board member Sabine Lautenschlaeger, in a weekend interview with a German newspaper, Welt am Sonntag.

It would be wrong for the ECB to abruptly change direction.

"That would help neither the economy nor price stability ... I am very much in favor of normalizing monetary policy. That also means that we should gradually raise interest rates. The pre-condition is that the path to price stability is sustainably strengthened".
