“Monday: It's a busy start to the week for data on Monday. The main focus should be the final September manufacturing PMI revisions in Japan, Europe - with a first look at the data for the periphery - and the US. Also due is the August unemployment rate for the euro area and money and credit aggregates data for the UK, while in the US we'll also get the September ISM manufacturing and September vehicle sales data. Away from that the BoE's Tenreyro and Fed's Bostic, Kashkari and Rosengren will all be speaking at various times. Worth noting also is that Monday marks the final day of debate at the UN General Assembly, while euro area finance ministers will also meet in Luxembourg to discuss 'national automatic stabilisers'.”

“Tuesday: It looks set to be a much quieter day on Tuesday. Overnight we get September consumer confidence for Japan. In Europe we get August PPI for the euro area and the September construction PMI for the UK. There's nothing of note in the US however the Fed's Quarles and Powell are both due to speak. The BoE's Haldane and Haskel are also scheduled to chair panels at separate events.”

“Wednesday: The main highlight on Wednesday should once again be the PMIs with the final September services and composite revisions due in Japan, Europe and the US. Also due in Europe is August retail sales data for the euro area. In the US we'll also get the September ISM non-manufacturing and September ADP prints. Central bank speakers due on Wednesday include the Fed's Evans, Barkin, Harker, Mester, Powell and Brainard and the ECB's Mersch. Here in the UK PM May will deliver the closing speech at the Conservative Party annual conference.”

There's nothing of note in Asia or Europe while in the US we'll get September challenger job cuts along with final August factory orders, durable goods and capital goods orders revisions. The ECB's Nouy and Nowotny, and Fed's Quarles are also due to speak. EU trade ministers are also due to meet informally in Austria for a two-day meeting while the Economic Club of Washington holds an event with White House National Economic Council Director Larry Kudlow.”

“Friday: The big highlight on Friday is the September employment report in the US. Prior to that, overnight we get August household spending and labour cash earnings data for Japan.
