Week ahead crowded with event risks - Westpac

FXStreet (Bali) - Sean Callow, FX Strategist at Westpac, notes how the week ahead is crowded with data and event risk.

Key Quotes

"Event risks include the FOMC and BoJ meetings, China’s official PMI, Eurozone CPI, US GDP and April non-farm payrolls. However, today’s calendar is fairly quiet. In Asia, we see only Japan Mar retail sales, Mar trade data from Thailand and Hong Kong. Japan’s data is of more interest than usual given it is the final month before the consumption tax rise. Consensus is 10.8% y/y."

"ECB president Draghi is due to participate in an unusual forum: “the first joint conference of the coalition party groups of the German government”, which doesn’t seem promising for notable new policy commentary. In the US we will see Mar pending home sales, expected up slightly on the month but down about 10% on the year."
