The news comes after the US trade gap with China hit a record level, in a blow to president Trump’s America First policies:
- US trade gap hits $621bn - a ten-year high.
- Despite tariffs, the trade gap with China at record.
- US trade deficit for December widened to -$59.8bn as exports fell 1.9%, for a third month in a row, while strong domestic demand saw imports rise 2.1%.
