Coronavirus update UK: Confirmed COVID-19 cases rise by 816 on Monday

There were 816 confirmed cases of coronavirus infections on Monday, the British Health Ministry reported on Monday. Currently, a total of 311,641 have tested positive for COVID-19 in the UK, as reported by Reuters.

This figure followed Sunday's increase of 1,062, which was the highest daily increase since late June.

Earlier in the day, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said that they will not hesitate to reintroduce quarantine if needed.

Market reaction

The GBP/USD pair largely ignored this report and was last seen trading at 1.3083, where it was up 0.24% on a daily basis.
