EU Official: Vaccine problem is not the fault of EU or UK

The European Union (EU) has not formally blocked AstraZeneca's vaccine shipments from the Netherlands plant as no export request has been made, an EU official explained on Monday, as reported by Reuters.

"The Vaccine problem is not the fault of the EU or the UK, it is due to AstraZeneca over-selling its production capacity," the official added.

Market reaction

The market mood remains cautiously optimistic following this statement. As of writing, the UK's FTSE 100 Index was up 0.15% on the day and the Euro Stoxx 50 Index was gaining 0.1%.
