US: Average Hourly Earnings up 0.1% in December

FXstreet.com (Barcelona) - The US Average Hourly Earnings increased by 0.1% in December, following a 0.2% rise in November, the US Department of Labor reported today. Analysts expected a 0.2% increase. On an annual basis Average Hourly Earnings rose by 1.8%, down from 2%.

Average Weekly Hours dropped to 34.4 from 34.5, against expectations of remaining at 34.5.

US NFP grew by 74K of jobs in December, following the November 241K increase, considerably below market consensus of of 196K.

Canada: Employment decreases by 45.9K in December

Net employment in Canada fell by 45.9K in December, following the 34.8K increase registered the previous month, Statistics Canada reported today. Consensus pointed to a 14.6K rise.
